The President of the Republic of South Africa is visiting the United Kingdom

The first State Banquet hosted by King Charles took place this evening at Buckingham Palace. The royal family welcomed Cyril Ramaphosa, the president of the Republic of South Africa. His wife, First Lady Tshepo Motsepe, was unable to travel to the UK due to medical reasons. The the last State Banquet took place in 2019When Queen Elizabeth hosted then-President Donald Trump.

In addition to King Charles and Queen Camilla, the Prince and Princess of Wales, the Earl and Countess of Wessex, and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester were also in attendance at the State Banquet this evening. Duke of KentLady Susan Hussey and the Honorable Annabel Whitehead, former lady-in-waiting to Queen Elizabeth.

The Prince and Princess of Wales arrived in style for the State Banquet.

The President of the Republic of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, took a picture with King Charles III and Queen Camilla. This week’s state visit is the first to South Africa since 2010.

Next to Kate is her husband Prince William, and directly behind Kate is the Queen’s first cousin, the Duke of Kent.

Sophie, Countess of Wessexlooked elegant in a green gown and the Wessex Aquamarine Necklace Tiara, which she first wore in 2005.

She was joined by her husband, Prince Edward. Edward was the only one of his brothers to attend King Charles’s State Banquet.

President Ramaphosa chatted with King Charles, while South African Foreign Affairs Minister Naledi Pandor and Queen Consort Camilla walked in.

Labor leader Sir Keir Starmer and his wife Victoria Starmer attended the State Banquet.
