As part of the strategy presentation, CD Projekt announced that it has many new games in development. While details are slim, the company has announced that the 2020 Cyberpunk 2077 sequel is being developed under the codename “Project Orion” and will “prove the full power and potential of the Cyberpunk universe” when released.
Additionally, a number of new games set in The Witcher universe are also in various stages of development. These are all being developed under various code names and include Project Sirius, Project Polaris and Project Canis Majoris. In addition to the two most popular franchises, CD Projekt is also working on a new independent IP, Project Hadar.
In its briefing, CD Projekt announced that it has started a new “Parallel AAA Development” strategy this year and plans to develop a healthy and sustainable work environment as well. As it expands its franchises, the company plans to be more transparent, increase development opportunities, and bring more player experiences to traditional single-player games.
This Witcher game for Project Sirius is described as an innovative approach to the series aimed at both veteran fans and people new to the franchise. Currently in pre-production, Flame in the Flood is being developed by developer The Molasses Flood, with 60+ people involved in its creation.
Project Polaris is described as a story-driven, open-world RPG built on the legacy of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and worked on by over 150 people at CD Projekt Red. This game will be the beginning of a new Witcher trilogy, which is planned to be released 6 years after the release of Polaris.
Canis Majoris Project
A story-driven single-player open-world RPG set in The Witcher universe, the game will be developed by a third-party studio led by former Witcher veterans.
The working title for the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, this new game set in the universe created by Mike Pondsmith will arrive upon release. Phantom Liberty expansion and will once again be developed by CD Projekt Red.
The newest IP from CD Projekt, Project Hadar, has been in “IP incubation” since 2021 and is currently in the conceptual stage. This game is described differently from Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher and is 100% developed in-house.
In addition to game projects, CD Projekt plans to expand into television and film. Cyberpunk Edgerunners has been a critical hit for the company’s transmedia strategy, and it plans to produce more content based on its properties through overseas partners. A new studio is also being created in the US and will be known as CD Projekt Red North America.
