According to publishing company Penguin Random House, the controversial book sold more than 1.4 million copies on its first day.

Harry’s book is written to give readers an inside look at Harry’s personal life as he talks about his grief over his mother’s death in 1997 and his long-standing resentment of his role as ‘heir’ – a royal ‘back-up’ overshadowed by older brother the Prince. William.

Gina Centrello, president and publisher of Random House Group, said The Duke of Sussex’s memoir is “the story of someone we thought we already knew, but now we can really understand Prince Harry in his own words.” The Associated Press reported on this.

The book’s global release date was January. 10 and is priced at $36 in the US.
