Grim Guardians: Demon Purge It is 2D side shift The action game focuses on two demon-hunting sisters who challenge a demonic castle to save their school. Players take control of both characters with completely different skill sets, progressing through stages to face the diabolical bosses that await in the depths. Each boss gives them new weapons, allowing for more varied exploration and opening new routes in later stages.

Grim Guardians: Demon Purge two player features cooperative special moves, wide difficulty options with the ‘Style System’, unique variations on replays and most importantly the quality and challenge players have come to expect from Inti Creates titles, this time with a new Gothic horror aesthetic.

Grim Guardians: Demon PurgeAnnounced at the indie game event BitSummit X-Roads, it will be available digitally on February 23, 2023. Nintendo SwitchPlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S consoles, as well as PC on the Steam platform.

■ Story

The Kamizono family has a long lineage of demon hunters. Kamizono Shinobu and Kamizono Maya – the last to inherit the family profession – return to school a day after finishing their hunt, only to find a shocking sight in front of them.

Unbeknownst to them, their school had become a devil’s fortress in their absence. What could have caused this? What about the other students? In a time of mystery and danger, only demon hunters have the ability to set things right. The Kamizono sisters fight again.

■ Feature #1: Quick Swap while going through Devil’s Castle

Take control of both tag team Kamizono sisters. Make the most of the long-range focused Shinobu and close-range fighter Maya Kamizono as you make your way through the castle.

Shinobu Kamizono (voiced by Amy Uema)

Shinobu, the elder of the Kamizono sisters, is full of confidence, but still makes careless mistakes. He is a long-range attacker who deals with demons using an automatic weapon against demons! As a tough fighter with more HP than her younger sister, Shinobu’s sub-weapons acquired at each stage allow her to attack in all directions as well as regenerate HP.

—Elder sister Shinobu’s ranged attacks allow her to fight from a safe distance, making her the ideal frontline fighter!

-Don’t forget to reload his anti-demon machine gun when he runs out of bullets. It will be vulnerable while reloading, so time it wisely.

Maya Kamizono (Voiced by Chinami Hashimoto)

The younger of the sisters, Maya supports her strong-willed sister from the shadows with her confident personality. As a technical melee attacker, he creates a variety of powerful weapons from origami. Use these weapons to deal massive damage! As he unlocks more sub-weapons, he’ll gain a variety of special moves, making him a true offensive specialist. However, he has lower HP in return, so choose carefully when to pass Shinobu, as the opportunity to deal massive damage presents itself!

-Maya is an expert in close range combat. Although its damage output is high, its HP is low in return. It is important to escape in time when using it.

-Maya’s small frame allows her to duck under certain platforms, making her a master of exploration.

Cover your weaknesses by switching siblings when needed.

-When faced with an enemy that can protect from Shinobu’s bullets, switch to Maya and show them who’s boss! It is important to determine which brother is better for each situation.

— Combat can be done at any time without any limitations or drawbacks, although both require combat fitness.

Each brother has a number of unique sub-weapons, giving you plenty of options to change your strategy when the time calls for it. Many of Shinobu’s sub-weapons can be used flexibly, allowing him to compensate for his direct attack. Feel free to use them while you have weapon points! On the other hand, Maya’s sub-weapons mainly serve to close the distance between herself and the demons, but in turn require technical precision. Some may even have unexpected functions.

A total of three different styles – Casual, Veteran and Legendary – are available to choose from, allowing players to tailor the difficulty to their needs. This can be changed at any time after starting the game and will have no effect on the story.

-Veteran Style: Ideal for those looking for the challenge it presents action games from the past.
