Apple introduced today First beta versions of iOS 16.2 and iPadOS 16.2 provides developers with more new features promised for iOS 16 update.

Free form software

Multiple people can work on the same Freeform document, with updates synchronized to all participants in real time. Apple says Freeform can be used to sketch projects, design mood boards and brainstorm ideas, with the app serving as a creative space.
Stage Manager External Display Support
With iPadOS 16.2, Stage manager where M1 and M2 iPads can once again be used with external displays. This is functionality that Apple removed in the first version iPadOS 16 To extend Stage Manager to A12X and A12Z iPad Pro models
With external display support, Stage Manager supports up to eight programs instead of four for multitasking purposes. This functionality is limited to M1 and M2 iPads.
New Home Application Architecture
HomePod 16.2 software adds support for the updated Home software architecture, which follows the addition of the Matter smart home standard paired with iOS 16.2, iPadOS 16.2, and macOS Ventura 13.1.

Apple appears to be collecting information about random SOS calls with the update, and one user has reported an Apple query about the call collecting system data.
Software updates
Apple has made a small tweak to the Software Updates section of the Settings app available under General. The text of the installed software version is now bolder, making it clearer.
iOS 16.2 adds Sleep widget To the Lock Screen, obtained from data stored in the health app and collected by the Apple Watch or other sleep tracking devices. It provides information such as time spent in bed and sleep quality with three options.
A simple tile widget shows the amount of time you spend in bed, and two multi-tile options show either a bar chart showing sleep quality or a larger widget showing time in bed with a visual representation. Tapping the widget opens the Sleep section of the Health app.
TV App Live Sports Scores
iOS 16.2 re-adds Live Actions integration for beta choose sports games for the TV program installed on it iPhone. Games can be watched in real time on the Lock Screen or on the screen Dynamic island where iPhone 14 Pro models
