Apple says in a press release, “The M2 Pro extends the architecture of the M2 to deliver a 12-core CPU and 19-core GPU, along with up to 32GB of fast single-core memory. The M2 Max builds on the capabilities. A 38-core GPU, single-core memory bandwidth, and M2 Pro, including up to 96 GB of internal memory.
The new MacBooks and Mac Mini share the same design as their predecessors, and these new chips replace the M1, M1 Pro and M1 Max chips in the previous versions. We’ve previously tested and reviewed the M1 Pro and M1 Max versions of the MacBook Pro and the M1 version of the Mac Mini.

The Mac Mini is getting its first update since 2020
The The Mac Mini was last updated in 2020, moved away from Intel when it added the M1 chip. The new version offers both M2 and M2 Pro chips.
Apple claims that the M2 version offers Photoshop performance that can be up to 50% faster than the M1 version and 2.4 times faster when encoding in Final Cut Pro; And the M2 Pro version can run Final Cut Pro 4.2 times faster than the M1 Mac Mini. There was no M1 Pro version of the Mac Mini for direct comparison.
It’s worth noting that Apple also killed off the Intel Mac Mini, which had a version (along with the M1 version) available prior to this announcement. This leaves the Mac Studio desktop as the last Intel-based Mac you can buy directly from Apple. Some retailers still have stock Intel Mac Mini including Best Buyif you absolutely need one.
A new model is starting $599 for the M2 version and $1,299 for the M2 Pro version.
Apple says both the new Mac Mini and MacBook Pro will be available to order starting in January. It will start coming to customers and stores from January 17. 24.
