MANCHESTER, England – Alleged assault by toddler nurse Lucy Letby He recovered “in leaps and bounds” after being transferred to a new hospital, he told the jury.
Prosecutors accuse Letby of tying up the child, known as Baby H, twice in Chester Hospital’s neonatal unit.
The trial of the 32-year-old football player continues Great Britain Allegedly killing seven babies and attempting to kill 10 more between June 2015 and June 2016.
The jury Manchester Crown Court I heard that Baby H, who cannot be named for legal reasons, collapsed twice in the neonatal unit on September 1st. 26, 2015 and another the next day.

She described being “fine” at first after being born six weeks early.
But Baby H’s mother said she was woken up in the early hours by nurses entering her room in the maternity ward and told her to come straight to the neonatal unit.
She and her husband were shocked after doctors told them their daughter had been put on a ventilator after her lung collapsed.
In a written statement, Baby H’s mother said, “They explained that their first priority was to take care of H.
“We accepted it, but we said what a shock it was to come and find him on the ventilator.”
On arrival in the neonatal unit, the mother could see the staff resuscitating baby H and was told to “sit with him and hold his hand”.

Her husband said her daughter was a “very strange color” and “lots of spots.”
Staff were able to resuscitate Baby H but were unable to explain why he had suffered sudden cardiac collapse, the jury was told, and a consultant told his parents he “could not guarantee” he would make it through the night.
The baby’s parents stayed with the baby’s incubator that day before sleeping in a nearby room.

Although Baby H had stabilized, shortly after going to bed there was a knock on the door. The staff advised them to return to the neonatal unit.
The mother said doctors “met almost the same scene” as they tried to save their daughter.

Baby H recovered a second time and was taken to another hospital where tests were carried out to determine the cause of the two collapses.
From that point on, the jury heard, he improved dramatically.
Baby H “was more sensitive and came on in leaps and bounds,” her father said.
He was well enough to return Countess of Chester Hospital he was discharged two days later.
The jury was told baby H, now 7, had no long-term health problems or issues.

Letby’s attorney Benjamin Myers, told the jury that Child H’s unprovoked collapses were the result of “suboptimal care” at the hospital and had “nothing to do” with the defendant.

It has been claimed that putting in a chest drain after Baby H’s collapsed lung may have caused her to go into cardiac arrest.
Consultant pediatrician Dr. Ravi Jayaram, who performed the procedure, denied claims he had placed the drain in the “wrong place” creating an internal “risk”.
But Myers noted that Baby H, who needed three doses of adrenaline as doctors struggled for 20 minutes to resuscitate him, received three chest drains, which is “very unusual” for a baby.

I added that Dr. Jayaram was placed in a “suboptimal” position and had to be inserted into the fifth intercostal space around the armpit area. The trial continues.
